Grimshaw’s Pall Mall, London is one of the most moving painting’s I’ve ever seen. Grimshaw’s depiction of Pall Mall, on a darkened rainy day, is so intense, that you can almost hear the rain swept carraiges and feel the foreboding statue watch over you in the brooding half light, where old amber lamps illuminate shop windows, causing gilded reflections on wet pavments and puddles. Grimshaw’s work just takes me right back to my childhood shopping in town on a dark, rainy, wind swept Christmas Eve with my grandmother and seeing all the lights …magical wen you’re like only five lol x
